Types of Projects

We welcome applications for both construction and educational projects. These might include, but are not limited to:

  • School gardens - especially those used for educating children on sustainable growing methods, composting, organics and water conservation
  • Hospice gardens - these may be flower gardens, especially perfumed, herb and rose gardens
  • Establishing educational gardens - possibly with volunteers to lead educational groups/tours
  • Establish/maintain Herb gardens - especially those that educate on the therapeutic uses of different herbs
  • Specific projects within existing gardens, such as converting to alternative power (solar) to drive irrigation systems or lighting; or practicing water conservation with sprinkler and/or drip systems.
  • Local composting initiatives
  • Establishing community Vegetable gardens
  • Adding a bench and/or landscaping to an existing area
  • Putting a bench in a new area, whether to appreciate a view, or just to allow people to rest in an area where there are no places to sit.
  • Starting a seed bank of local varieties or wildflowers
  • Planting trees in public areas, schools, hospital or hospice grounds
  • Planting trees to stabilize banks or hillsides
  • Investigating and implementing non-herbicide weed control
  • Investigating and implementing non-pesticide pest control
  • Purchasing equipment/plants/trees for any of the above
  • Education projects on any of the above topics
